- Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, mix egg, milk, butter, and vanilla. Add to flour mixture; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened (batter will be thick and slightly lumpy). Let stand 5 minutes while heating pan.
- Spray large flat griddle or skillet with no-stick spray. Heat on medium-low heat. Pour 1/4 cup of batter per pancake onto hot griddle. Cook 2 to 4 minutes per side or until golden brown.
